World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will be able to gain an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it's upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-level version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure what will be improved following a reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item will be obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items to double or even eliminate possibility of failure, and some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes in their radius as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 whenever you can.
You will often find in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the best way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Utilizing the Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but you should also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets leveled up.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could become more expensive even if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial but it should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item is very valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrader lets players increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and armor) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its original condition, which requires the player to pay for more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have a much lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items might require different upgrades than normal equipment. For example they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients needed to upgrade.
